MARK BRIDGER - Charged with the murder of April Jones (5 yrs old) Facial Analysis: Left Eyebrow and eye set lower than rhs. Greater gap between lhs eye and brow, resulting in flap over left eye. Left eye is marginally unfocussed outwards. Left side underneath eye is flat. A sign of minimal muscle activity over years but may also be the result of an injury to the area. However, nostril is far less developed on left side, suggesting minimal muscle activity to left side eye-cheek area. Left side generally devoid of expression. I see depression, emotional self pity, sadness. Right side has hint of smile with sadness. Left side mouth does not extend to vertical line through eye centre. Right side mouth extends beyond centreline. Mouth set skew, anti-clockwise off horizontal, suggesting a lifetime of grimace expression being exercised. Left side of cranium is smaller than right side. Summary: Emotionally disturbed person. Low emotional intelligence. Problematic childhood. May have been emotionally and physically abused. When eye area is isolated, I see potential menace.

Marilyn Monroe

Left eye syndrome: Left eye and brow are set lower than right side. Left side brow is lower, resulting in a droop effect. Right side brow muscle activates more intensely than right side in most photos I have seen of the subject. Left side face has fewer muscles activated. Left eye not always engaged. Left side mouth extension is shorter and downturned. Right side mouth extension is longer and neutral to upturned. Left side appears to reflect the dominant personality trait of depression It is difficult to render an accurate analysis as the subject postures and wears significant makeup.

Duke of Edinburgh

A most symmetrical face. All facial muscle groups seem to be in perfect harmony. I see this thread in all the photographs I have perused of the subject. Over the years, the smile lines around eyes are as conspicuous as the smile lines around mouth extensions. I see emotional intelligence and intellect. A proud person. Confident.

Prince Charles

Eye structures are fairly symmetrical, with both sides of face engaged. Left side photo reflects more accurately of the subjects character ... a slight expression of arrogance and superiority. The centre photo shows a ‘panamerican’ or false smile. The smile around the mouth area does not match the muscle activation around the eye area. The far right photo suggests superficial interest. The raising of the brows coupled with furrowed brow and slight pout action of mouth reflects a condescending attitude in the face.

Pol Pot

Left eye syndrome: Left eye is set marginally lower and off the horizontal plane. Left side mouth extension is shorter and downturned. Left side cheek is activated in a sneer expression. Left eye is outwardly focussed. When right side of face is covered, the left side has a noticeable expression of unemotional menace. When the left side of face is covered, the right side expression presents as amiable. Right side mouth extension is longer and upturned. Smile muscles are activated on right side. The general presentation reflects an unbalanced person. This person could kill you and smile at the same time. This person presents two distinctly different personalities. The dominant personality is reflected in the left side. History confirms that this person was an unfeeling dictator who committed genocide.

Robert Mugabe

Facial Analysis In static mode, the face is fairly symmetrical at first observation. Using the top right photo, cover the right side of the face to highlight the differences from side to side. The left side eye is set slightly lower than the right. The left side mouth extension is shorter. The right side smile muscles are decidedly activated, whilst the left side are not. The left side has a slightly flat expression. I see no evidence of dual personality. In many photographs of Mugabe where he displays a full smile, the surrounding eye muscles are not consistent with the lower face muscles. I contend that these smiles are forced and insincere. This person activates the cheek muscles to accentuate his smile, but the eyes and mouth do not support the activity. I contend that this person is false in character.

Princess Diana Spencer

Facial Analysis Left eye is set slightly off horizontal line, with a clockwise slant. Left eye has smaller presentation. Left brow appears to be set lower, but with cosmetic correction. The left mouth extension is shorter. These features became more apparent as the person grew older, suggesting that personality imbalances increased over time. The early pictures reflect a quietly confident person. Later pictures show a person that appears to be unsure and lacking confidence, with leaking emotions. Continual one-side grimace causes face to appear unbalanced and produces asymmetrical facial lines. I see no evidence of mean characteristics.

Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth - Well structured and balanced face. I see emotional intelligence and intellect. The central facial muscles are equally engaged. slight tension of lower lip suggests a degree of arrogance. Nevertheless, a person of sound character and strong personality.

Gerry McCann's pain

Gerry McCann's face is difficult to analyse for character traits. Every picture that I have found is apparently 'post Madeleine disappearance' as mostly his face reflects deep grief and sorrow masked by an absolute hatred towards the camera. Generally his face is balanced and I see no negative aspects. I have followed the McCann story with much interest over the years. From the outset I observed their open body language and deep seated grief. I have applied Statement Analysis to their words. I contend that the McCanns were not criminally involved in the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine. I do think that they consider themselves to have acted irresponsibly, inasmuch as they could have been more careful. The expressions on their faces suggest to me that they will never forgive themselves.

McCann's - Leveson Inquiry Photo

Leveson inquiry: Kate and Gerry McCann The underlying expressions of the McCann couple reveal deep sorrow and despair that only the loss of a child could induce. These are real people ... parents in the depth of despair. Their faces reflect their damaged souls. Raw emotions leaking out although they are trying to appear composed. Kate McCann presents only despair. Gerry McCann shows bitterness and resentment. In many of his pictures I see absolute hatred for the media photographers in his face. Underneath that hatred, I see genuine and deep grief. Kate McCann - Innocent Victim

There are many pictures of the McCanns on the internet. Many are posed. Many were taken by photographers literally jumping out at the McCanns which is shown by the expression of shock and surprise in most of Mrs McCanns pictures. This picture was one in a series, again taken by a waiting photographer. the first frames registered her surprise and thereafter a somewhat normal expression appeared. Mrs McCann has a noticeable puffiness under her right eye which appears to be a medical condition or an old injury. The eyebrows seem to be on same plane, but might be cosmetically enhanced. The left eye is set lower and at downward plane to right eye. This suggests to me a depressive personality,which is confirmed by facial muscles activated, especially around the mouth. As all the pictures I found were 'post disappearance of Madeleine', the depressive expression is to be expected. Mrs McCann's general facial presentation is that of an honest and trustworthy person. I see no negative aspects. I see expressions of deep and genuine grief and sorrow. Mrs McCann's facial expressions suggest that she may never recover from her grief. The expression is deep seated and now permanent. I have watched live interviews of the McCanns and have studied their microfacial expressions combined with their general body movements. I contend that the McCanns played no part in the disappearance of their daughter. I am of the opinion that much of the grief displayed is due to constant regret that she even went out on the fateful night. Gordon Brown

Presence of left eye syndrome is observed. Left eyebrow is set lower than right side. Left eye presents as smaller and outwardly unfocussed. No facial muscles acticated above or below left eye.
Possible earlier in life injury to face. If not: Left side of face appears to be depressed and uninvolved. Right side of face appears to be more frequently activated, resulting in mouth and nose extension pulling to right side. Right side of face suggests high intellect, but with little indication of any emotional expression. This person may consciously suppress his emotions.

Tony Blair

Tony Blair - In this pic Mr Blair is focussing at apoint in the distance. He seems to be pre-occupied with an issue. The brows are furrowed; Mouth is pinched and slightly pouting; left side pulling mouth skew. He is cynically doubting whatever he is thinking about. There is some presence of left eye syndrome. Left brow is set lower with less gap present between brow and lid. The left eye appears to be unfocussed inwardly. The left side mouth extension is noticeably shorter than right side. There is an absence of muscle contraction below left eye. The left side facial presentation is more striking than the right side. The combination of activated and non-activated muscles suggests that the person may be deeply introspective, considering words carefully, is possibly cunning, possibly quite manipulative. The person is acutely aware of his facial presentation and is trying to control his presentation. Not a natural expression. Possibly contrived.

Sunday Rapist - Johannes Steyn

In other pics I have seen of Sunday Rapist, Johannes Steyn, his face is drawn in a contemptuous, hateful sneer. here I see left eye outwardly unfocussed, almost staring, expressionless. right side mouth extension is slightly longer than lhs and ends with slight upturn. Shorter left side ends in slight downturn. Right side face has an almost soft expression except for the eye which has no surrounding muscles activated and is slightly menacing. The left side face is acutely menacing with its unfocussed eye. I imagine this is the expression Steyn would use when sizing up a potential victim. No empathy. No remorse. Quite surely a clinical psychopath

James Holmes

Left Eye Syndrome: Left eye lower set, outwardly focussed, lower set brow with less 'inquiring' arch. Forehead muscles are tensed with some brow arousal - but without any sign of other facial muscles being activated. Emotionless. Lower jaw is crooked suggesting some skull deformation or old injury. Chin offset to left. Philtrum runs at angle between nose and top lip. Low left ear set suggests FAS. Unbalanced psyche. He will in all likelihood be declared insane. I suspect strong possibility of multi-personality disorder. May be highly intelligent, but without emotional intelligence. Holmes had an enviable academic record, but in recent times began to display weird behaviour. He was under pschiatric treatment. I contend that his mental state continued to degrade to the point where he could no longer define reality, lost his sense of right vs wrong and finally his brain malfunctioned, probably permanently. Here we see a previously brilliant student that to all intents and purposes is struggling to keep up with courtroom processes. He appears confused and sleepy, surprised and afraid.

Eyes, Hands, MFE's, Speech

Re press article that appeared in various SA newspapers in July 2012. The story reported research carried out by a UK psychologist after which he stated that hand movements are the most reliable indicator of deception. He als dismissed eye movements as an indicator. I found the article to be interesting, but somewhat inaccurate in terms of the findings presented. Hand movements in isolation are not a reliable indicator of deception just as much as isolated eye movements are also not reliable indicators. If for example a subject keeps his arms folded; or keeps his hands in his pockets or fingers clasped together on table ... then hand movement detection in isolation is totally useless. It has long been accepted in the Detection Of Deception (DOD) arena that a multi-disciplined approach is by far the most reliable route to DOD. The integration of multiple disciplines and research (literature) gave meaning to gestures and (micro)reactions of the body (Turchet). Ekman, Friesen and prestigious authors like D. Morris, Edward Hall, Ray Birdhwhistell, Gregory Bateson had contributed significantly to this field already and many continue to do so. The Diogenes Project (later named the Truth Wizards project) carried out research on some 20,000 people and discovered that a mere 5% have the ability to detect lies with any degree of reliability and by use of multi-disciplines: Statement Analysis, Kinesics and physiognomy. Kinesics covers the study of all body movements, which is further whittled down into specialised areas such as hand-arm, major muscles and micro facial expressions (MFE’s). Physiognomy is the study of faces, including FACS (Facial Action Coding System) for defining emotions and in turn, the emotions that are displayed when practising deception. FACS was devised by Dr Paul Eckman over thirty years ago. Dr Eckman’s work is still used and taught worldwide. Interestingly, Dr Eckman and various teams declared over time that the expressions were cross cultural, but nowadays it is accepted that there are distinct differences between western and eastern cultures. To try to single out any one particular discipline as being the most reliable DOD approach is simply disingenuous. David Williams: Left Eye Syndrome. Left Eye & brow set lower than rhs. rh eye set at downward trailing angle. LH eye unfocussed outwardly. left side mouth short, downturned edge. No muscles around eyes are active. Expressionless face. Skewed mouth area expression=leaking emotion. David Williams allegedly tried to hire a policeman to kill his wife for R12,000. He is currently being tried for conspiracy to commit murder. Ironically, he has in the meantime sued his wife for R10,000 p/mth maintenance as they were married in COP and she is the only breadwinner.

Shamrita Singh Basic Analysis Left side face is more engaged and focussed than rhs. Left brow presents a peaked arch. Rhs brow presents a curved arch. The peaked arch represents the intellectual and emotionally dominant side The left eye is scrutinising. The right brow is a curved arch, representing the soft side of this persons nature. Both ‘brows up’ + eye openings up (smiling) suggests well balanced, good natured, with balance between emotion and emotional intellect. The left eye presents a wary expression. This person is aware of situations. She is approachable, friendly, but circumspect, wary. The full lower lip trailing to narrow with long narrowed section suggests critical and analytical. There is no permanent furrow between brows, suggesting that the person is open and receptive as opposed to closed, unreceptive, brooding. (Persons with perm furrow and lowered, intense brows suggest complicated personality, closed, hidden agendas. Also associated with deception.) The LH face is the dominant side. More intensely focussed. Mouth extensions are equal in length. Balanced outlook. Left upper lip muscle tensed. Subject may smirk on lhs from time to time. Left side to right side face present markedly different expressions – both sides reflecting emotional intelligence. Centre of top lip is peaked, slightly tensed, suggesting a degree of playfulness of character. This subject can be intense – emotionally and intellectually but with the easy ability to express joy and humour. The chin is extended slightly outwards, displaying confidence, but not overtly. The overall expression is one of openness, without concealment of emotion . The smile is contained, not gushing, but suggests a good measure of genuine interest in others. The expression suggests capability of intense scrutiny. Not to be taken lightly by others. Open minded. Honest. Loving and caring. Trustworthy while not being immediately trusting of others.

Themba Mahlangu

Adolf Hitler has left-eye syndrome. The left side brow and eye are set lower than right side. The left side eye has a fixated stare, which became manic as Hitler grew older. Left side mouth extension is sorter and presents a slight downward curl in a Right side mouth extension is noticeably longer and presents a neutral expression. The centre brows are always furrowed, illustrating the ever present intensity of Hitler. The left brow muscles are in greater tension than the right, creating permanent creasing over time. The bottom lip is pushed upwards, also an apparently regular expression of defiance by Hitler. The overall impression is that of a sociopath. Emotionless, defiant, manic at times and certainly cruel.

Benito Mussolini

Left eye and brow are set lower on left side of face. Brow muscles are pinched. The mouth is pinched to form a subtle pout. The face is artificially posed. The subject is trying to appear serious, even stern. He wants to be taken seriously. The lower eye muscles are not activated. He appears to be humourless. The lower lip creases appear to be permanent, suggesting the ongoing outward personality of pomposity, inflated ego, superiority complex. "The superiority complex is one of the ways which a person with an inferiority complex may use as a method of escape from his difficulties. He assumes that he is superior when he is not, and this false success compensates him for the state of inferiority which he cannot bear. The normal person does not have a superiority complex, he does not even have a sense of superiority. He has the striving to be superior in the sense that we all have ambition to be successful; but so long as this striving is expressed in work it does not lead to false valuations, which are at the root of mental disease. Tehillah Niselow Subjects eyebrows have been cosmetically enhanced which rules out accurate comparison left – right, although left brow appears to be marginally higher set. Horizontal plane through central eye midpoint is regular, with left eye outer presenting slight upward angle. Eye size is marginally increased in left eye. The left side smile is more pronounced than right side. (Uncommon. Usually >80% to rhs) The left side is more expressive and dominant than the right side. (positive aspect) Right side eye/smile combination presents as childlike, or uncomplicated happiness. The orbital muscles are activated with the smile in both sides. The smile is easy and not forced. (positive aspects) This presentation is generally the opposite of left-eye syndrome subjects, whereas the above pictured features are attributable to positive aspects , left-eye syndrome aspects are attributable to depressive dominance, personality imbalance and a predisposition to deceitful behaviour. The positive side in this pic (yang) appears to be mostly dominant. A contented and well adjusted person. Deeply introspective. Impressionable. Honest.

"May I remind everybody that it was me, together with the fellow leaders of the National Party, who abolished apartheid on 2 February 1990," he said in Cape Town.

"Why would I have nostalgia for that which I abolished and for that which I apologised? I don't want to get into the twisted interpretation of what I've said."

# To pose a question in an open statement indicates sensitivity at that point, suggesting that the
speaker may be concealing information.
"We know that our education system is in a crisis, we know that people are protesting in the streets about bad delivery, so we're not in a good place in the socio-economic sense of the word.

"Fortunately, we are implementing well-balanced economics, macro-economic policies and I'm not a pessimist at all," he said.

# To report something in the negative is not the norm. The norm would be, “ ...and I’m optimistic about our future, OR, ...and I’m an optimist. “ I would venture that the speaker is in fact pessimistic about the issues he referred to.
"What is wrong in South Africa can be put right and I think that it's time we all join hands, stop shouting at each other and we work together to improve things."
Asked whether he agreed that apartheid was morally repugnant, De Klerk said: "In as much as it trampled human rights it was, and remains, morally indefensible."

# The use of the prefix, “In as much as it ....” was not necessary. The speaker could have given his information in the ‘short way’ > “It trampled human rights. It was, and remains morally indefensible” The use of the unnecessary prefix suggests there are other undisclosed reasons or concealed information that may have rendered apartheid as being morally defensible to the speaker.

De Klerk then reportedly said about the homeland system: "But the concept of giving, as the Czechs have it now, and the Slovaks have it, of saying that ethnic unity with one culture with one language [everyone] can be happy and can fulfil their democratic aspirations in an own state, that is not repugnant."

He reportedly denied that blacks in the homelands were disenfranchised.

"They were not disenfranchised, they voted. They were not put in homelands, the homelands were historically there. If only the developed world would put so much money into Africa, which is struggling with poverty, as we poured into those homelands. How many universities were built? How many schools?" he asked.

# Again, posing questions in an open statement indicates sensitivity and tension at that place in
the statement. It suggests that there is undisclosed or concealed information.
"At that stage the goal was separate but equal, but separate but equal failed." He said he later became "a convert" against the system.

# The use of “At that stage..” indicates that in the speakers mind, there is a different goal in the present
time. The use of “I later became a convert against..” is a confirmer that the speaker is in agreement with
the current goal set.


FACIAL ANALYSIS
The face is well balanced and symmetrical. The subject is well used to posing for press photos, and is well at ease. However, I observe that the eye muscles work in synch with the mouth. The slight smile does not appear to be forced. The overall impression is that of an open and generally honest person.

It suggests that he never killed anyone in his first 33 yrs of life. RULE: There is no coincidence in a persons words. Everything said has a meaning and is reference to real life activities (past). A cognitive process takes place before words are uttered. We can say that Mdluli has a strong inner desire to tell his stories truthfully. The need to lie conflicts strongly with one's inner emotions - therefore it is not easy to lie.

Rebekah Brooks

I have perused many photos of Rebekah Brooks. Her face usually presents as symmetrical and balanced. usually composed. Often her hair hides a portion of her face. This may be a fashion statement or it may be the curtain she hides behind.
In one photo attached she appears to be smiling and contented. Normal.

In the other photo, I see that the lhs eye is not in synch with the rhs eye.
The lhs eye is fixated and staring. The mouth wears a forced smile as the eyes are not smiling. The zygoma are not activated. I dont know whether Ms Brooks uses botox, which of course would negate any facial analysis.

In the pic where she is wearing a blue top (clutching plastic bag)the face is apprehensive. The contradictions in the four quadrangles suggest that the subject has distinctly different personalities that may come into play at different times.

UK Paedophile Gang

This is a screenshot taken of the 8 men arrested in the UK in connection with running a child prostitution ring. The picture is of low quality, yet one is still able to conduct a degree of facial analysis. Note the commonality of Left Eye Syndrome to most of these men.

Barack Obama

The face is generally symmetrical and well balanced. Both left and right faces are focussed and involved. The overall impression is that of a balanced and contented person.

The Eyes, The Lies, Analyse (Truth Extraction Contd)

Truth Extraction (Reading Between The Lies)was published circa 2000 by me, Clifton Coetzee (A Forensic Fraud Investigator), assisted by Malcolm Russel (A radio Broadcaster).


Subsequently, I established a 'Truth Extraction' investigative training module on MS Powerpoint and conducted many Truth Extraction training workshops and seminars during 2000 - 2008.

Truth Extraction techniques employ techniques of Statement Content Analysis; Statement Veracity Analysis (Criteria Based Content Analysis ); Kinesics (micro facial expressions, FACS and physiognomy). The latter leading me to conduct a study of faces and specific facial features, in turn leading me to initiate my 'Left Eye Syndrome' theory.

Subsequent to 2000, my work has led me to carry out an extensive edit of my first book and to add new content, including comparisons between SCAN and Voice Stress Analysis (VSA), specifically with a new automated VSA technology 'AVSAPRO'

In my latest book I place more emphasis on the visual cues than previously was the case.

SANRAL - Nazir Ali

In this case, the eye syndrom characteristics present on both sides, which represents appr 5% of persons displaying the tendency overall. Note that whilst the left eyebrow is lower, it is the right eye that is out of synch with the overall expression. The left eye is smiling, although the eye is hooded. The right eye has a fixated stare. The corresponding mouth outer edges are in synch with each eye expression.

Left mouth is smiling. Right mouth presents a smirk. Left side upper and lower eye muscles are activated, while right side is static. The overall expression is a contradiction.

Left Eye Syndrome

Still to be peer reviewed theory. Examine the persons face from square front on position. Observe the horizontal plane above the eyebrows. Usually the lhs eyebrow is noticeably lower than rhs. The left eye is eithe smaller and on a different plane (with a siamese appearance) Or, the left eye is much wider than the rhs and has a 'staring' appearance. In both cases above, the left eye appears to be flat and unfocussed, or outwardly unfocussed (outward squint) The left side of mouth usually ends well within the vertical line of outer eye edge. The left side of mouth often does not extend much beyond the outer edge of corresponding nostril. By contrast, the right side mouth edge extends beyond the outer edge of rs nostril and often in line or beyond the vertical line of outer eye edge. When the face is divided vertically, the left side appears disconnected and/or with a hint of menace. The right side face appears to be happy or content. A very interesting collage indeed.
His early childhood pics present as a normal youngster. Nice symmetrical face with pleasing expressions. I didnt spot anything unusual until time frame 0.33
0.33: Left eye presents a marked change to right side. Left edge of mouth appears shorter than opposite side. (starting to develop what I term Left Eye Syndrome-LES)
0.36: Confirms above
0.59: LES now clearly noticeable. Left side face has less pleasing expression to rhs
1.06 - 1.21: Confirmers of above
1.41 A hint of cruelty is evident on left side of mouth.
1.51 Left eye has markedly different expression and different point of focus. A slight hint of menace and mental instability.
1.59 Above observations confirmed and clearly visible
